A working Irish pub on Circular Road, finished in a deep charcoal that runs across the walls and ceilings and lets the timber beams, the brass and the memorabilia carry the room.
Ceilings were skimmed and made good before any colour went on, with the bar, the fixed seating and the shelving sheeted and bagged while the work ran overhead. Dark colours are unforgiving — every patch and every roller mark shows — so the preparation took longer than the painting did.
